One of our main priorities as ZONE is to bring nature back to basics. We embody this philosophy through our cork yoga range and hemp clothing. Our new ZONE Intimates are no different. Each piece is crafted from a blend of 53% hemp fabric, 42% organic cotton and just 5% spandex. The result? Everything you could ask for in underwear! A collection that is 95% natural, durable, breathable, soft and comfortable. The Journey Behind the Collection

Creating our Hemp underwear collection is more than just a business venture—it has been a journey that took me across the globe to Sialkot, Pakistan, to meet our makers, a small family business. This collaboration was a humbling experience that allowed me to see firsthand the challenges and realities of life in a developing country.

Travelling to Pakistan, I was initially apprehensive, but the warmth and hospitality of our partners quickly put me at ease. I spent time in their home, played with their children, and worked closely with the pattern master Uncle Ji, refining our designs in ways that could never be achieved through emails or video calls. This face-to-face interaction was invaluable, allowing me to connect deeply with the people who would be crafting our collection and to ensure that our production process was as ethical and transparent as possible.

Witnessing the poverty and lack of basic services in Sialkot was a stark reminder of the disparities that exist in our world. But it also reinforced the importance of our mission. By choosing to create underwear from sustainable materials like hemp fabric and organic cotton, we’re not just making a statement in the fashion industry; we’re making a tangible difference in the lives of the family we have partnered with.

Hemp clothing and organic clothing are at the forefront of this movement, offering durable, biodegradable alternatives without sacrificing style or comfort. Hemp fabric, derived from the Cannabis sativa plant, is an earth-friendly alternative to synthetic fibres. Its superior strength—eight times stronger than cotton—ensures that our hemp underwear maintains its shape and lasts longer than other fabrics. Hemp fabric also has exceptional anti-odour properties and wears in, not out, becoming softer and more comfortable over time, making it the perfect fabric for the conscious consumer. Organic cotton complements hemp’s durability with its softness and hypoallergenic properties, creating a perfect blend of comfort and sustainability.

A New Perspective on Sustainability

In the pursuit of seamless, we’ve often sacrificed sustainability. Natural fabrics like hemp fabric and organic cotton don’t offer the same level of stretch as synthetics like elastane, Lycra, and spandex, which we’ve grown accustomed to in our everyday wardrobe. But what if we shifted our perspective? Imagine if 80 or 90% of our wardrobe was made from sustainable materials, leaving just 10% for those seamless items and special occasions that truly require it.

This approach not only reduces our reliance on synthetic materials but also aligns more closely with sustainable living. By prioritising natural fabrics in the majority of our clothing, we can drastically reduce our carbon footprint while still enjoying the comfort and functionality of modern fashion.
