SUSTAINABILITY & TRANSPARENCY

At ZONE, we are committed to sustainability and transparency at every step. Each item we craft is designed with care, inspired by nature, and backed by a commitment to sustainability. From eco-friendly materials to fair, ethical production, we ensure every choice you make with us contributes to a healthier world. This is about more than just products—it’s about building a better, brighter future together.

Our FARMS

All our products are made from plant-based or natural fibers. Our hemp and organic cotton blends are GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified and farmed in China, while linen comes from France and raw cork for yoga mats and props is sourced from Portugal. We source pure essential oils and sprays locally from Australian farms.

While our preference is to source raw materials locally, Australia currently lacks the facilities for processing cork and hemp. ZONE is committed to addressing this challenge by sourcing materials responsibly and ethically. For hemp, we work with an ethical textile mill in China, the producer of 70% of the world’s hemp fabric. For cork, we source from Portugal, the global leader in cork production, responsible for 70% of the world's supply. Our mission extends beyond current suppliers; we are actively exploring new ethical sourcing opportunities in countries like India and Pakistan. By doing so, we strive to ensure that all materials align with our principles of sustainability and responsibility.

OUR MILLS & MATERIALS

At ZONE, we prioritise full transparency throughout our entire supply chain, which can be especially complex for clothing. We trace each step of our products’ journey, from farm to final packaging. This includes every stage—cutting, sewing, dyeing, washing, labelling, and finishing—ensuring we know exactly how and where each product is created.

Using materials like cork, hemp, and low-impact dyes allows us to significantly reduce water consumption compared to conventional options. Cork, for example, grows naturally in hot, dry Mediterranean climates without the need for irrigation. Processing cork relies on simple mechanical methods that use minimal water compared to synthetic materials. Hemp is another water-smart choice and thrives with minimal irrigation and is resilient to drought. Additionally, by using low-impact dyes, we reduce the need for excessive water during dyeing and rinsing. These dyes bond more efficiently with fibers, leading to less runoff and water pollution, and often incorporate closed-loop systems to recycle water.

Hemp: The Super Fibre

Let’s clear the air—hemp is the real MVP. Not only does it make insanely comfy, long-lasting clothing, but it’s also one of the most eco-friendly fibres on the planet. Hemp is a powerhouse when it comes to sustainability, using way less water than cotton and no harmful chemicals to grow. Plus, it actually improves the soil it's planted in, making it a win for the earth. What’s more? Hemp is super durable, gets softer with every wash, and naturally fights off odours, so you can wear it again and again without a fuss.

Why Cork is Our Go-To

When it comes to sustainability, cork is our champion. It’s 100% natural, recyclable, and renewable, making it the ultimate eco-friendly choice for our ZONE yoga range. No trees are harmed in harvesting cork, and the process actually helps the tree grow back stronger. Cork isn’t just kind to the planet—it’s incredibly functional too. With its soft, natural feel, it provides great grip, even when wet, thanks to its unique waxy substance, suberin. Plus, cork’s antimicrobial properties mean your mat stays fresh and clean, naturally.

OUR MAKERS & SUPPLIERS

We believe true connection with our suppliers creates a stinger relationship and builds trust. Our founder, Lydia, travels to meet and personally connect with our makers and suppliers at least every second year, ensuring ethical practices throughout our supply chain.
Meeting face-to-face helps build real relationships, break down language barriers, and align on shared values. These visits allow Lydia to observe working conditions firsthand, verify fair wages and safe environments, and strengthen trust.

This also gives us a chance to meet any subcontractors and make sure that they are held to the same standards as those outlined in our Code of Conduct. This commitment to transparency and respect is essential to maintaining the ethical integrity at the core of our brand.

We believe in the importance of transparency and actively educate our customers about our manufacturing processes and the origins of our materials and why they are healthier option for people and planet.

We are now taking the steps to ensure there is a process for disposing, up-cycling or recycling our products at the end of their use. The same thought and care is extended to our packaging and shipping materials which are minimal and plastic free.

Taking care of the environment is not an obligation. Our environment is our life.
